Sick Sitters, LLC, Opens Doors for Business

097

One day when Michael Rinaldi was working as an EMT at Hackensack Hospital in their pediatrics unit, he came up with an idea.  What if there was a place where parents could bring their sick children. It was a novel concept long in the making, approximately  11 years, before the idea would take flight and materialize.

dr.edandmichaelNow Sick Sitters, L.L.C, the only sick center located in the state of New York, has become a reality. Beginning July 1st,  parents with a sick child can avail themselves of the Center. According to Rinaldi, “It can be stressful to take care of your sick child. As a single Dad, working and raising a son of my own, I know. Sometimes parents can’t be there when their child is sick. Our center serves as an option. We provide qualified supervision and a homey and safe environment where children can get better.”

As a medical assistant to Dr. Edward F. Rossi, who has a busy pediatrics practice Your Hometown Pediatrician, the two formed a partnership. “I have so much respect for Dr. Rossi. He really cares for his patients and his diagnosis is always right on.”  When a space became available directly next door to Rossi’s office, they seized upon the opportunity to establish Sick Sitters. So from the perspective of location, it doesn’t get much better.

The center is truly unique, one in which even healthy kids may beat down the doors to get in. With its kid friendly environment - toys abounding, a TV in every room, walls decorated with themes of wild animals, sports, and Walt Disney characters - kids will feel right at home. Rinaldi says, “We offer a mix of activities, including crafts, homework, stories, coloring and quiet time while they feel better.”

With four sick rooms, a nurses station, 15 cots, plenty of snacks and meals, a multi camera live surveillance system available to parents to see at any time what’s happening throughout the facility, and a professional staff of EMT’s under the consultation of a medical doctor, you can be assured that sick kids will be well cared for.  The rooms are designated based on illness, to minimize the spread of infection and the facility provides pick-up services to day care centers and schools to make life even more convenient. With care like this, we expect that sick children, under the care of Sick Sitters, will be well on their way to a speedy recovery.
