Sugar Loaf Community Foundation to Feature Richard Hull on Rebirth of Sugar Loaf Community Vision Committee to Present Update on Foundation Projects The Sugar Loaf Community Foundation (SLCF) will hold a special event April 27 featuring local historian and author Dr. Richard Hull, who will speak about the events and activities that contributed to the successful rebirth of the arts and crafts village of Sugar Loaf, from the late 1960s to the present. Hull’s presentation, “Sugar Loaf: Reflections on the Renaissance of a Community,” also will examine some of the unsuccessful ideas and policies of the day, and explain why they failed. Hull is a co-founder and past president of the SLCF. In addition, the SLCF’s Community Vision Committee will give a slide-show presentation on the foundation’s achievements, and ongoing and future projects, including an update on recent zoning changes, sidewalks through the hamlet and other infrastructure efforts, as well as the foundation’s annual holiday festival, beautification program, and award-winning newsletter. The presentation event will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Lycian Centre Pavilion Theatre, 1351 Kings Highway in Sugar Loaf, NY. Refreshments will be available. The Sugar Loaf Community Foundation always welcomes new members. For more information about this event, membership opportunities or the foundation’s activities, call President Paul Ellis at 845-469-7563.
