Registration for the Warwick Historical Society’s August 11-14 Blacksmithing Course is now open. This class is limited to six students, so you will need to register and pay in order to reserve your place in the class. The price for 16 hours of blacksmithing over the course of two days is $325. For additional days, pay only $50 per day if you desire to complete more projects. The course will focus on creating edge tools. That will involve shaping metal and creating composites of two different types of steel through forge welding. The first project will be a tomahawk. Metal will be shaped. A section of high carbon steel will be cut from a dull file. This will be forge welded to a steel tomahawk shape that you have created by heating, hammering, and drawing out from a piece of steel metal stock. A similar process will be repeated to achieve a froe, draw knife, or hunting knife under the direction of bladesmith Adriaan Gerber. Registration can be in person at the A.W. Buckbee Center, 2 Colonial Ave., Warwick, or call: 845-781-3729. Email: a href="mailto:email@example.com, More information: historicwarwickny.blogspot.com
