MILKWEED PRESENTS In(Flux) Opening Saturday, April 8, 7-9pm

Milkweed is pleased to present In(Flux) a group exhibition of new interactive and performative work by Martin Dominguez Ball, Vernon M. Byron, Iain McInnes, and Cody Rounds. Presented at Milkweed (2 & 3 Romer's Alley, Sugar Loaf, NY 10981), an opening reception with live performances will take place Saturday, April 8, 7-9pm. The exhibition will remain on view through Sunday, April 30. 

IN(FLUX) is a suite of interactive, experiential, and performance-based installations exploring the fluid connections between gender, identity, materiality, movement, and ideology through the lens of water. Martin Dominguez Ball, Vernon M. Byron, Iain McInnes, and Cody Rounds will present a series of shifting sensory environments that transform the perception of space, time, and place.

Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, Martin Dominguez Ball moved to New York in the mid-1980s. He is a multidisciplinary artist with a BFA in graphic design and a MFA in interdisciplinary arts. A prolific creator, Martin's paintings, drawings and sculptures have been well received in galleries in New York City and beyond. Additionally, he is a professional filmmaker, graphic designer and a professor of fine arts and graphic design.

Vernon M. Byron III, Thoughts Like Rain (Take Shelter Beneath Me), 2016 MDF, wood, surface exciters, MP3 player and recorded audio

Vernon M. Byron III is an emerging artist hailing from Spring Valley, NY. He currently resides and works in Newburgh, NY. Vernon's practice centers around the intersection between sound, narrative, architecture and object. Vernon's work is a response to the advent of virtual reality, where sound, environment, and other non-visual means are employed to alter the viewer's perception of reality. Vernon has shown work throughout the Hudson Valley, including The Concourse Gallery A at the Albany International Airport, The Samuel Dorsky Museum of art, The Art Society of Kingston, Space Create, and The Chris Davison Gallery.

Iain McInnes, From Beyond, Ink and Warwick black walnut residue on canvas, 36 x 24"

Iain McInnes is a London born British American artist and vocalist with a deep connection to the Hudson Valley after living in New York City. He has a professional theater and performance art background and has toured 48 states and 24 countries as a motivational speaker. Influx is his third show at Milkweed Sugarloaf.

Cody Rounds, Layers, 2016, Live performance

Cody Rounds has studied art in the United States and France, and is currently based in Warwick, New York. Her works, performances, and installations have been featured in exhibitions coast to coast, including a prominent feature by the Blue Man Group in Chicago, Illinois. Since moving to Orange County in 2014, Rounds has been involved in the regional arts culture through explorations in video and media-based work. Most recently, Rounds has exhibited her work in solo and group exhibitions at Chris Davison Gallery, Milkweed, and The Seligmann Center.  In 2016 her work was published in Identity & Anonymity: An Artful Anthology. Rounds co-founded and and co-curates DUSKLIT Interactive Art Bazaar.
